ANC wishes Cde Mathews Phosa, ANC Treasurer General, Happy Birthday

The African National Congress (ANC) wishes the ANC Treasurer General, Cde Mathews Phosa, a well deserved and blissful 60th birthday, today, 01 September 2012.

Through-out his years in the liberation struggle of South Africa, Cde Mathews Phosa, has distinguished himself as one of the selfless and revolutionary leader of the ANC, who dared his life for the liberation of the people of South Africa.

Cde Phosa is one of the first four members of the ANC to enter South Africa from exile in 1990, in order to start the process of negotiations with the National Party government.

He is a lawyer and a poet of note, who published a volume of poetry called Deur die oog van `n naald in 1999.

As a true leader, caricature of this stature, cde Mathews Phosa is today handing over the ANC centenary torch to the people of the Northern Cape Province. Regardless of his birthday today, he decided to share it in service of the ANC and the people of South Africa.

On the occasion of his birthday, the ANC joins his family, friends and comrades in wishing him a joyous birthday.
