ANC applauds Chad Le Clos and SA Rowing Team

The African National Congress (ANC) applauds Chad Le Clos and the South Africa Rowing team for their excellent performances in winning the second and third gold medals for South Africa, within the first week of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

We appreciate the excellence of Chad when he won the second gold medal by edging the defending champion Michael Phelps in the mens 200m butterfly on Tuesday, 31 July 2012. It is of great respect that he also marked his own national record when he touched the wall at one minute, 52.96 seconds (1:52.96).

The ANC is equally overjoyed when our rowing team consisting of; Sizwe Ndlovu, John Smith, Mathew Brittain and James Thompson, clinched the the first ever South African gold medal in rowing and marked the third gold medal of Team SA at the Olympics.

We are thrilled and honoured with the commitment and the dedication of our athletes at the London Olympics. Their performances ranked South Africa to position Ten (10) on medal rankings, positioning the nation among the best performers in the Olympic Games.

We call upon all South Africans to show their support to all the Atheltes that will also be participating again in representing South Africa today.

We believe that the likes of Kgotso Mokoena and Chad Le Clos will add more medals for Team SA, as they will be in action tonight.
